Industries and Uses for Stainless Steel Camlocks

Camlocks are also called cam and groove couplings, a kind of hose coupling used to rapidly connect and disconnect fittings on piping or hoses. Stattin Stainless stocks Grade 316 Stainless Steel Camlocks to be used with liquids and a variety of sizes to accommodate hose or piping diameters.

Our Stainless Steel Camlock Fittings are the most robust and durable of the camlock fittings. The hygienic properties of the Grade 316 stainless steel cam and groove couplings make them the first choice in food, beverage and pharmaceutical processing. They are also ideal for use in corrosive circumstances. Manufactured to close tolerances, our high quality couplers provide a durable, low maintenance solution and often work out the least expensive long-term solution.

NITRILE (NBR) Camlock Seals

Standard in our Grade 316 Stainless Steel Cam and Groove couplings, nitrile is a synthetic rubber offering improved chemical resistance and temperature capabilities to neoprene. The material offers good resistance to oils and solvents, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, petroleum oils and gasoline, animal fats and lacquer solvents.

Temperature range -50 to 120 Deg C (-60 to 250 Deg F)

EN 14420-7 Standard

The European standard EN 14420-7 was approved by CEN in September 2004, and was applied to cam and groove couplings manufactured to American military specification MIL-C-27487 / A-A-59326A. This American standard does not apply to the hose connection side, but only to the coupling side. Cam and groove couplings produced to EN 14420-7 are interchangeable with those produced to the original MIL-C-27487 standard, but differ in terms of hose tail design, thread and part number. A flat thread seal has been added to the female threaded parts, and a smooth hose shank complying with EN 14420-2 / DIN 2817 has been added for assembly with RK safety clamps complying with EN 14420-3 / DIN 2817.

Note: European standard EN 14420-7 replaces DIN 2828 but does not replace MIL-C-27487 and Federal Mil A-A-59326A.
